Show us Your Budget

Show us Your Budget is New Europes contribution to the broadest possible debate concerning the future EU budget. In 2008, the member states are scheduled to begin a more fundamental debate about the budget. Therefore we are establishing a database on the internet where all who are interested, with the 2007 budget as a starting point, will be able to prepare, what they believe should be the EU's budget in 2020. It will then be possible to compare the different proposals.   

Of course New Europe wil also prepare a proposal. A proposal that will be an extension of the paper Our European Dream - A Global Vision. We will propose an increase in the total budget but we also wish to cut back on the very extensive agricultural subsidies. We would much rather invest the money in a democratic infrastructure, social and environmental measures, and also in research and a far more prominent global role for the EU.
